its an early type of "recall" dial...it shows the max RPM reached.

Nothing that fancy, just a Speco tacho with a adjustable second needle for your redline.... also as an adjustable light that you can set to come on.

I stand corrected- almost perfect idle tune. At idle it tends to fluctuate from 14.5 to 15 with an occcasional spilke to 12 or so when there is a misfire. the other interesting thing is watching your mixtures change (idle and under power) at night when it cools down, or when the engine bay is hot on a hot day, etc. It teaches you a lot about how carbies work- finding the point when different circuits start to work, the effects of changing your air correctors. I still dont know how accurate it is but to understand relative changes its a really useful bit of gear.
