Don't shave the head unless it is out of spec. Usually after blowing a head gasket they do NOT need it.

IMPORTANT: be sure to mill the head flat again with a surface grinder if it is warped.

A14 spec is 0.1 mm (0.004 inch). So the early A12 spec is more strict.
