This will keep the heat in and improve the exhaust gas flow,you should also notice the difference to the carbs with your fingers.(temp wise)

An aluminium heat shield like came on the GX carbs is a good idea also to keep the carbs cool.

That is the neatest bandage job I have ever seen, what are you using to secure the bandage at the ends? I used ugly hose clamps.

i have folded the ends over and wrapped them tightly under itself. its holding itself, but i have added this muffler bandage which hasnt worked too well.(at the 4 ends of the wrap) i was paranoid about stuffing up the wrapping so i tried to do it as tightly as possible. i will probably be adding tie-wire to properly hold the ends. its held up so far (today) thanks for the comments !!

sunny : car seems a little toeyer and has a slightly different note in the exhaust sound too. yes they seem to be running much cooler. imagine how hot it gets under there when im at lights for 2-3 minutes, without the thermal fan running, with no clutch/engine fan. ho t

I used aluminium flashing from the hardware store for mine, but I am sure with a bit of thought you could make something neater from some thin aluminium sheet.

ive since added another heat shield in-between the manifold/webers and the headers, as the rubber soft mount seals still seem to get fried every now and then.
i cut the heatshield out of quite thin aluminium sheet which was easily bent into a wavy shape and slipped into position. also I bolted it onto the middle exhaust bolt over the headers. big aluminium sheet cost under 20$ from hardware store(bunnings is my local one)

Where did you get those headers with the built in O2 sensor hole?

I did this once, and the heat got trapped inside the header and caused a bunch of cracks

g'day all, saw you talking heatshields so figured i show this its not in a 1200 but its still a nissan ..... kinda

bought the aluminium from bunnings (cant remember how much) and made a template from card board traced it on to the backside of the checker plate and cut it with a steel blade in a jigsaw. works a treat in keeping the heat off the pod.
now in the process of making one up for my datto .... at the cardboard stage now
