In the original car, the bolts that secure the mount to the chassis/body bore a vertical load only. In this design there is a substantial bending moment on them & it's a force that this chassis mounting point, & the small fasteners was never designed to take.

To secure it properly it would benefit from another two legs running across from the actual mounting point, or even running slightly forward & attaching to the underfloor area.

Hi Dodgeman, The gearbox mounts and engine mounts are both solid mounted except for a 5mml thick nylon washer on both.
I Think i can see what you are saying? But with the engine mount solid the load should only be vertical and tortional as long as the engine mounts prevent for and aft movement?
I might put the nylon washers on the body side of the X-member and have it bolted flat to the gearbox.
On this gearbox there is an additional X-member flange on the rear of the extention housing which i could tie in aswell. You have got me thinking..
Thanks

Edit: Yes, what you are saying makes sense now. I might to have to do something about it.
