 Re: boofhead A12GX dyno run
had a couple runs at a dynoday unfamilia organised and these are my figures !!!!

watched my video of the 2nd run and checked the figures thru the revs ...
119kmh @ 4840rpm - 42.1kw
128kmh @ 5200rpm - 44.5kw
145kmh @ 5880rpm - 49.4kw
158kmh @ 6400rpm - 54.6kw
161kmh @ 6520rpm - 59.0kw

run in 4th gear, 4.11 diff, 185/45/15 tyres

i'm happy as
first guestimate of what i'd be happy with was 50-55kw ... but to pull out 59kw was awesome.
smallest capacity, naturally aspirated, biggest noise and not the lowest kw (sorry mik)
kind of made the 4hrs of waiting worthwhile ....

only concern is the curve is really jumpy, kind of /\ /\ /\ /\ as the curve climbed ... will be off with the printouts to see my mechanic down here during the week for his opinion.

edit :

this is the specs :

A12 - 1204cc, all balanced.
9.8:1 static compression
gx head, all new bits
66/30 cam
electronic ignition, graphed to suit cam
4-1 hitech extractors to 2.5" collector, 2.5" mandrel bends with single 2.5" baffled muffler before the diff.
running twin 40s with 30mm chokes.

carb settings for the motor spec above ....

40mm DCOE webers x 2
chokes : 30mm
Aux venturies : 3.5
Emulsion tubes : f11
Main jets : 125
Air correctors : 175
idle pumps : 35
pump Valve : blank
pump rod : 54mm stroke
idle jets : 45F9

Good to hear it has worked out well for you.

Did you happen to get any AFR readings whilst on the dyno?

converting km/h to rpm is pretty easy with tyre size diff ratio and gear ratio...

saw the mechanic today and he was wrapped with the results. he assures me the jumpy bits are nothing to worry about and this is common with carb engines, but as the curve climbs nice and evenly which is what counts.

eagerly waiting on ferals comments as he was the engine builder, i've sent him an email and now to just wait

Congrats mate.

I must take mine also again for a dyno run.
But not before I make some mods. I want to remove the mechanical fan first.
My carbs have been tuned since then. It made black smoke at high rpm. It pulls much better now at higher rpm.
Will let you know what I get and then we can compare. Mind you that I am not at the coast but inland.

Did'nt want to edit my other post.

Is this power on the wheels or engine?
What is with the torque? 208Nm.
That is damn strong for a 1200cc engine.

 Re: boofhead A12GX dyno run
found a box spec and you're right 1:1 in 4th .... but not all boxes are 1:1 4th gear -
56A option 1 boxes run a 1.291
56A option 2 boxes run a 1.181
56A GX5 boxes run a 1.254

............

 Re: boofhead A12GX dyno run
The AFR's do look a little rich throughout the whole range.

Might be worth trying to go down to 115 - 120 main jet and also drop the air corrector to 165, should give a cleaner response throughout the range as well as picking up a lilttle extra power.

12.5:1 right across the range is a good place to aim for, keep in mind that on initial acceleration the afr will drop a little because of the accelerator pump activating.
