Last corner on to the main straight. I think it was going across the ripple strips like this that broke the transmission, as some of them have bad drop offs & it always landed with a bit of a bang. I think I was a bit more aggressive using the ripple strips than this. That's why I had to buy the replacement gearbox (Stumpy 5 speed). |

![](http://datsun1200.com/images/icons/no_posticon.gif) Re: Sunny Coupe at Wakefield Park 03 We'd done an Oran Park South event after lowering the car, & were down in the low 56's. All the people doing the same times at Oran Park were doing 1.17's or 1.18's, so everything being equal, that's what we should have got. We'd never done Wakefield in this car, so I was still experimenting with lines when the gearbox let go. My co-owner was doing 1.18's while I was doing 1.20's, so the car is capable. By comparison, my old Sunny sedan with the A15 big HP motor was doing 1.15's.

![](http://datsun1200.com/images/icons/no_posticon.gif) Re: Sunny Coupe at Wakefield Park 03 We were doing 1.18's with at least 2 seconds more when we got the lines correct. It's got a stock L18 with webers & extractors, sao it's got about 70 hp at the rear wheels. All done by 5500 rpm. Got seriously left on the main straight.
