Re: CA18det bare block One thing I noticed after pulling the engine down is just how bad the oil squirters get clogged up with crap! The only way I could clean them out properly was to use a drill bit the same size as the origional internal diameter. I couldn't even do it by hand, I had to put it in the vice and use a drill!
Something to keep in mind if anyone pulls theirs down.

Re: CA18det bare block my ca18de doesnt have them, instead will use a notch on the base of the rods much like 4age and some other engines do. I dont have the oil turbo water oil provision either but easily sorted. The rods will be worked as they are the same as the det. Pistons will be checked and heat proof coated.
Blob how much did it cost to get the engine cleaned?

Re: CA18det bare block From memory... Acid wash block and engine parts cost about $60.00 and they do a final clean of the block and head after machining also at $20.00. So in total about $80.00 I think. They take into account the other stuff your getting done too. Got all of my machining and the head serviced at Hoppers Crossing Cylinder Heads, Can't speak more highly of them! Good blokes and quality work.
