Well it looks like it's not been well loved, but on the upside, it's the relatively uncommon two door model & that makes it worth saving just by itself. The loose panels, like bonnet & guards can be replaced, but that roof will need a little work to fill the holes once the lights are trashed.

Mark my words, one of these with a really nice body will steadily increase in value over the coming years.

mine was bent too... I straightened it...

it went from

TO

the gold 120Y is my current 120Y... and no it isn't that bent anymore...

this is the most recent pic... the valance has been replaced with the one off the Parts car shell (rust free) , and the gold bonnet and the grille are back on it, but it hasn't changed much... it also has the 14" alloy rims off the "yellow peril" on the back it... I'd have them on the front too if I could find some cheap sunny/stanza struts

and Tyrie, I haven't had either of 'em on their roof either...

YES I respect my DATSUNS!

Long live The Defect! I always enjoy reading about it. It's like Timex, or the enginizer Bunny, it just keeps going. Come to think of it, it is just like a Datsun.

Re: Don't wory, she does not bite.
no rally, I do tend to drive them like a rallycar though...

but be VERY careful how hard you drive that 120Y of yours, If yours is like my two, the standard front struts on the front of mine (both "The Defect" and 'The Iron Maiden) do NOT work - AT ALL... I do have a good set stashed away though...

although I'd prefer to go sunny or stanza frontend (as they widen the front suspension track - how far the front wheels are away from each other)

"The Defect" is currently "sleeping"

if I can find a new scuttle panel, drivers door (with hinges), and a drivers seat belt (it's in "The Iron Maiden) I might "wake it up"

and if anyone is wondering why it called "The Iron Maiden" it not because Iron Maiden is my favourite band, No like the torture device "The Iron Maiden" is a glorified coffin!...

why do you need doors? just have seat belts to hold you in!

obviously you didn't read the bit about "The Defect" NOT having a driver's seatbelt...

it has a driver's door.. it's just not straight enough...

This car is looked after very well, it has a oil change every 2 months and a new filter every 4 months. The air cleaner is replaced every 6 months. (very dusty)
