Re: mid corner - turn 1 good shot of the circuit giving the outside rear tyre, tyrewall a hard time. And at the same time the inside rear tyre is very light.......without your locker i reckon there would be tyre smoke.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 yeah, I like shots that show what's happening with the tyres and suspension. you can see in one of the other shots earlier in the corner, the outside front tyre working hard turning the car in. There would definitely be traction problems without the locker! but probably not in this turn - it's more a case of coasting through this corner at the end of the main straight, because then there's a very short straight followed by a 90degree right hander. There's *just* enough time to get the car settled and hard on the brakes for the next turn if you get this corner right. If you get the line wrong or get a bit out of shape in this corner, it gets very interesting trying to pull it up for the next right hander! good fun! It's kinda like a scalled down version of the first 2 turns at Oran Pk GP, I guess. VERY scalled down, and the opposite direction, and...

Re: mid corner - turn 1 Harry, did you ever get around the problem [although not a big one] of the lack of tyre wear on the inside edge of the rear tyres.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 no, I haven't done anything about that yet. It handles so good at the moment, I'm sort of wary about touching it! Of course, there's always the possibility of making it better I guess...
but I've got bigger problems to fix first. like what engine to build and getting some decent brakes on it. I'm going circuit racing next year! so I'll need brakes. converted and datman and r-fast and everyone else who's hit the track this year have got me all psyched up with their pictures and talking about it all the time! lol and I've always wanted to do it - its why I got the cage built for it and the pre log book paperwork is already done. Just got to stop buggerising around with rallying and get my act together...

Re: mid corner - turn 1 I contemplating getting the diff housing camber adjusted [best part of a degree, if not 1.25 degrees] to try and combat this issue. There is only so far you can adjust as im sure the side bearings on the diff center and axle bearings can cope with....
You mention you want to get back on the track, but need and engine. If your on a budget as most of us are, i would slip an A-series back in, good cheap and reliable, and you already have the bits and pieces.
Brakes, I run 14's over R32 rotors and calipers, but i reckon s13 - 14 brakes are worth having a look at. nice smallish vented rotors and beafy single pot calipers.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 that would certainly help - they can put a bit of toe on it at the same time.
that awesome Stuart Wilkins engine I had last year has just ruined me for other engines. If I can't get that much power again, I simply won't be interested in driving it!
I may as well stick the turbo A series in there - doesn't look like anyone wanted to buy it, and to tell the truth I don't want to sell it... I want to see how it goes...
what struts have you got the R32 brakes on? are R32 calipers those sexy 4spots with Nissan written on em?

Re: mid corner - turn 1 R32's are on stanza struts and calipers are the "sumitomo 4-pots".
The A-series wont come close to the torque of the L-series, but at the same time a well/semi sorted A-series will be a handful.
What do you have to lose, a turbo A-Series [A12 that is ] will still have under 2L class.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 we'll be running a supercharged A12 120Y in PRC3 before the year is out hopefully.
i work that out to be 1992cc - hopefully twin SUs on the front of it don't choke it!

Re: mid corner - turn 1 our rally rules here in Aus suck these days! bring back Group G! if you want I can send you an old (2003 I think) CAMs book. Not much has changed since then for PRC, and you can see the changes on www.cams.com.au anyway. PM me an address if you want it.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 Quote: R32's are on stanza struts and calipers are the "sumitomo 4-pots". very intersting. this sounds like the G.O. the R32 disc fits the stanza hub? any spacers required for the caliper? only thing is the turbo A series won't be any good for actual circuit racing with the carby. 12 laps of ful throttle flogging would just be asking for heat related problems - detaonation and disaster. But I guess I could whack it on as is for now, and if it really honks, look at injecting it, or even a dedicated LPG setup...

Re: mid corner - turn 1 I used C22 vanette hubs [have different offset, but use the same bearings] with the R32 rotors [ 280mm dia] had to make up braket for caliper as the center to centre spacing on the strut is 90mm and the caliper is 100mm. position of caliper to rotor relationship is spot on.....

Re: mid corner - turn 1 Harry, Ye of little faith....try it out, as long as its built properly, not overboosted, over advanced or running too lean and you run a decent sized radiator and oil cooler I fail to see why it wouldn't hack the distance. Stick with it, it is worth it. Cheers Dave

Re: mid corner - turn 1 thanks Dave. the mongrel in me really likes the idea of taking on those twin cam multivalve EFI guys who are the front runners in the under 2L class, with a carby turbo pushrod engine! not sure on how realistic that picture is though. But we'll see how it goes at a couple of supersprints first. we get some pretty warm days at Queensland Raceway, which also has some loooong staights, and that's why I'm worried about heat soak over the longer races they do. I could have the ability to turn the boost down in-cabin... but then if you were going to do that, you might as well just pit-in I reckon! No sense giving the other's the encouragement of passing you on the track... yes, I've been told before that I'm too competitive for my own good.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 I say build it, try it and then worry about "heat soak" if it occurs.

Re: mid corner - turn 1 hi harry, looks like the coupe handles pretty sweetly,so just throw the turbo engine in & shake that dust fixation from the rallying.talking of using photos to check how a car handles,i can remember pouring over photos of a friends open wheeler at grafton hillclimb,on a saturday night after practice, saying 'gotta change this, redo that, drive it better'.spent almost an hour making plans for all the changes we were going to have to make to the car the next morning, til we realised these were photos of the car the previous year, when it handled like a bucket of something bad.the photographer confirmed this,& said the car was spot on this year.could have killed the silly bugger.or spotted the mistake earlier.
