I can't quite place it in the photo album pic - but I'd say it's an idle air control valve stepper motor?

yeah could be that i think that whole assembly that bolts to the manifold is all something to do with idle control can anyone tell me what the part is that ive shown the photo pf in this post? its underneath the throttle body and has air from the intercooler pipes routed through it.

CA18

Top photo is the AAC Valve (stepper valve) operated by ECU to 'steady the idle' I see the othe valve on that unit has had it's blue plug broken off. That was the A/C idle rise valve (FICD).

The bottom one is the Cold Start Idle Valve (AIV). Add 12v from injector 12v and it slowly closes. It's an automatic version of pulling out the choke knob.

Done.

If you are running stock computer ...definitely leave them on. The AIV is not so important if you don't live in an icy climate.. You could remove that.

oh yeah

just so that you know what mr Moses1 was on about andrew.

a wee part is something that makes the 'weeee' sound when you chuck it over your shoulder.

not a very helpful comment, but humerous still.

thanks for clearing that up i can see the humour in it now...can someone tell me (im hinting to you dattudude) if the hose that runs into the aac from the aiv can be removed from the aac and just be plugged up or does it need this boost reference to be able to stabilise the idle?
