6.5kg a12 flywheel and new std bore pistons with a dish machined in the top to give 8 to 1 compression for s/c a15.

Did you just machine the old dish into a concentric circle, or did you remove material from the actual floor of the dish as well? If so how much? You wouldn't want to take too much off with the extra stress that a superchaged combustion places on the slugs.

i didnt do the piston's onl the flywheel, jeff taylor at jts heads did em, from wat i gather he just made the cirle concentric, not going deeper than the original depth, i never actally saw them before being machined so anything is possible, if u wanna know give him a call, he'll gladly tell u as he's done this for phundoktaspok's engine as well as mine.

Yeah when Jeff and me were working out the best way to drop the comp, we decided to centre the dish in the A15 pistons so the farthest outside edge of the original dish is the max diameter but the depth was left original so as to not reduce strength. The only difference with Kegs to mine is from this pic it looks as though my pistons have a steeper angle of the dish to drop comp a little more.

you guys are crazy!!
e15 pistons are 23.5 cc dish and dsigned for turbo applications also have same small end pin diameter
i was using a set for NA a14 but not enough comp
i know personally that they will handle about 300 hp flywheel and over 8000rpm
also they are under 200 dollars with rings and pins
nice flywheel too

Hmm INTERSTING ....I will be going with arias pistons and mazda conrods that have an oil squirter that squirts oil onto the piston skirt ...I cant see standard pistons holding out under boost and heat ,but hey i migt be wrong .....

ive seen people run dodgier turbo setups than mine, with more boost and no intercooler, on std pistons and have no troubles at all, all depends on alot of factors, if theres no detonation, and a good fuel mixture they should be fine.....

Yeah, 90% of blown engine longevity is in the tuning.

What? oil squirters just like the A series rods have?
No matter how youbute the pistons are, nothing will last detination. Youbute just means it will hold together for 5 minutes longer until detination has a chance to damage more than just the piston.

Dont be fooled into thinking youbute pistons will withstand a poor tune.
Dont be fooled into thinking standard pistons wont handle boost when tuned.

OK thanks phunk for clearing that squirty thing for me i didnt realise datto was the same .I can also understand a good tune helps too
I will still run the ubutes pistons they have been recommended by a few engine builder.
HMM and that detonation is all gone i have none now ,iwas lucky the dizzy i recieved was set up ,just a good tune like they say and all was good ,cheers

Nothings to say youbute pistons arent good, as obviously they are more forgiving initially.

Below is a pic of one of my dished pistons, also showing oil squirter on rod.

What mazda conrods are you using ? i was going to use mazda B6 turbo conrods which are the right lenght and big end dia ,,,BUT they are to THIN in the BIG end thickness .. so they are now good to use
