Sidedraught I think A and L series boxes do share the same model designations, I know for sure that for eg. a CA18DET FS5W71C and SR20DET FS5W71C share the same designation they have different Nissan part numbers though.

They wouldnt have run a 63a box, because they had an L series engine.

I had always assumed the a in 63a was for A series.

they always say the 63a is the good box for a series, as it has strong L series internals
coz they came on L series too

I will be surprised if the 63a came on an L series.

These cars used an L series engine, so the standard 4 speed was a F4W63L.

My 1974 Sunny Excellent parts book does not list a five speed.

If thats the case, what is the difference part number or model designation wise between the ones with an A series bellhousing and the ones with an L series bellhousing?

Surely they wouldnt be the same, if they are fitting two totally different engines ,would they?

 Re: Sweet PB110 on Yahoo
dont know, but my stanza sss 5 speed definatly says 63a on the side of it....and its bolted to my l20b

bellhousing is obviously different, so maybe one of the first 3 letters/numbers in the part number is different

"63A" doesn't mean it fits A-series engine. It is just the transmission type.
