top 20 cars from the 86 total entries at the first round or the QLD Super Sprint Series.

This will give you a bit of an idea of the cars that were there. For the overseas guys, a Formula Holden is an open wheel racecar based on F3000 chassis with a 340bhp V6 engine, weighs 675 kg, with 10" front and 14" rear slicks!!! The Axtel Suzuki is a Hillclimb Special open wheeler with a suzuki bike engine, wings and slicks. 2 people lift it onto it's trailer to give you an idea of its weight. The westfield clubmans were all running slicks as well - they are disgustingly fast. Fastest sedan on road race tyres was Derek Pingel in the SR20 turbo Escort.

Brendan Pingel in his 1200 is a big surprise to be that far up the results. On Saturday his best time from 4 runs was a 3:07 which equalled his best from last year, then on his 3 runs on Sunday he did a 3:05, 3:04 and 3:03! I reckon he might have thrown a set of slicks on it Sunday - you simply don't drop 4 seconds overnight... The Corvette that finished 12th outright was also running slicks.

cams have a multiplication factor of 1.7 for turbos, which makes 2 litres as 3.4 litres.ask andrew dennis about being 3.04 litres with a ca18,just on the wrong side of 3 litres.also rotaries have a multiplication as well,so turbo rotaries get hit twice.as for the gemini,i thought that was just a conspiracy to rid the world of them by crashing them during racing.the weirdest sight i every saw was gemini's 4 wide into the first corner at oran park, when they ran it reverse direction.still don't know how they fitted through.what was in the 520 bmw,at 4250 cc's,it aint stock, wasn't a 253 was it?

Another Nissan-powered Ford ... I don't approve, this isn't right, shouldn't switch brands, etc <grin>, oh but it sounds good!

whats the farrel sports 1300?
this is Lindsay's Farrell. Sports 1300 is the category for clubman based racecars using Datsun A12, Toyota 3K or Suzuki G13B engines.

who owns the 1200's?
Derek Pingel (Brendan's dad) and me of course

only prob with forest flares is you aint allowed to rally with em in AUS!
yeah, the current rally rules in Aus suck.

b310gx,
what was in the 520 bmw,at 4250 cc's,it aint stock,wasn't a 253 was it?
hehe No, it's another Nissan engine - RB25 turbo! stupidly fast in a straight line - runs 13.7 qtr mile!

hey b310gx, give me some credit! That Gemini that finished just a few tenths behind me is not a Gemini Series Car with the gutless stock 1600 engine . This is a serious Improved Production car with a big power 2000cc engine and so much sponsorship you can hardly see the colour of the paint! He even has different tyres for wet and dry conditions!

it's at Morgan Park, Warwick. which won't be too far away from you either. I should be out there again on the 10-11th of May if you're interested.

it's always fun beating bigger cars. Especially if they are on the track at the same time as you.

There are a few GT40 replicas getting around to these events now. Beautiful looking cars. Wouldn't mind a drive of one. Found a pic I took of a GT40 replica out there last year.

It was a very nice MkI Escort as well. I have a bit of a soft spot for them. Especially the old rally cars with the big 'forest flares'
