Its looking good Nick. Im still gonna have to come around one of these day to get a good look at the hard work.

The engine stands sure do the trick. A simple extension makes them tall enough to easily work on the undercarriage. Making the attaching brackets so it rolls on the cars centre axis, makes it easy to turn over and very stable on 2 seperate unattached stands.

My 1000 on engine stands a few years ago;

I'm definitely going to have a go at this rotisserie...looks like the easiest way to do it I've ever seen.

I didnt want to get too complex with the rotisserie it tilts fully onto its side which made doing tunnel tray & tubs much easier as well as painting now it is great to be able to tilt the car to reach those pesky corners . the engine stands were from SuperCheap you need the brace in between to stop them flexing apart as all your hard work comes crashing to the ground rather suddenly if there is no brace between the two stands or you could dyna bolt each one to the floor .

Nick

Did you weld the engine stand arms to that piece of steel (the piece of steel that bolts to the front of the car). Or are the engine stand arms just bolts to the steel bar?

Couple of close up pics of the setup would be cool - I think it's a great idea.

Much easier than welding a jig together from scratch and although the car doesn't spin all the way around....I don't think spinning all the way around is even necessary.

Also is the brace welded or bolted to the engine stands?

What a great idea in making a rotisserie too - just using 2 engine stands and welding them together....do you mind postings, emailing a couple more pics of the rotiserie set up (I've got a car to paint next year)

That is great! I did not notice that. Ussually those rostessiere stands cost an arm and two legs.....the engine stands in here work as well......was this homemade??? or perhaps it is a lesser version commercial rostessiere???

Looks great!

i had a rotisserie like that for my 1600 once. i didn't have them joined together but basically you just make up something strong that'll bolt up to your bumper bar holes.

looking very good mate, i love a comprehensive rebuild!

Using engine stands you could't turn it completely over could you?

Maybe not even vertically on one side...
