 Re: Steering Arm
xx440 (nissan symbol) 2104

40 equates to front axle

So it's probably 40440-2104

I'd guess it's 120Y from the age of the part.
If the number was xxxxx-21<letter> it might be a 4wd patrol or something. But it wouldn't be so small.

Unless it's a mis-stamped 910 in which case it would be Bluebird. But from it's size..should be 210 = B210 = 120Y.

 Re: Steering Arm
I need to find out what this steering arm is from. I know it is not 1200/180b/Stanza. it look like it has 210 marked on it so is it 120y. i need a pair urgently so PLEASE help. It uses the smaller 1200 ball joint but the larger tie rod end 180b/stanza. and bolts to my stanza strut.

 Re: Steering Arm
I am very interested to find out what it is out of. What is the distance from ball joint hole to tie rod end hole?
I haven't come across an arm like that before. I would have thought that a 120Y would have the smaller tie rod end taper though... They don't look like the B310 arms.

Looks like 200b to me with the off center ball joint. The 200b arms have larger ball joint tapers tho.

 Re: Steering Arm
That is the part number cast into the part.. Do you have a photo of the steering arm from the other side? Maybe the number is not as damaged.

Maybe there was a 210 version for disc struts and drum struts..I'd need a B210 parts book or microfiche to help you with that.

I use stanza lower arm, stanza balljoint, stanza steering arm, and modified 180B struts in my 1200.

 Re: Steering Arm
It looks a little bit like the balljoint has been bushed in the photo- has it? I did this when fitting S130 arms to my rally car. I would guess they are from a bigger (ie L-series) datsun. What is the length?

 Re: Steering Arm
This part is officially called the "Knuckle Arm"

The part "Character Number" is 052 or 053
40052 = Knuckle Arm RH
40053 = Knuckle Arm LH
As dattodude points out, the 40 is for the "Axle" section of parts classification. It looks from the photo as if it says "4-0<nissan symbol>", if so that matches up.

rally1200 says it looks like the next numbers are 21042R, 21043R. Part Type Number "210" indicates this part was originally designed for the 510 Sedan.
PN 40052-21002 Knuckle Arm 510 Sedan
Could that be it?

and like I also asked in another post, has the balljoint hole been bushed?
and like I have asked twice now, what is the length from balljoint to tir rod end?

 Re: Steering Arm
Sorry length is a problem as i have had to refit them for a autocross on wednesday but i have just roughly messured them at 148mm from centre of ball joint to centre of tie rod. and no the centre balljoint hole has not been bushed.

 Re: Steering Arm
hmmm ok thats interesting. I don't think I've come across an arm like that.
Regarding part no.s, I looked through some bits today and found a pair of seemingly identical steering arms, both from B310s, with quite different part numbers.
What about 160J steering arms? Could that be the model we're looking for?

 Re: Steering Arm
if its an arm out of the 510 range it could be from a 1969 from memory ... they had a smaller hole for the ball joint than the later ones.
i used to have aset but have know idea where they have ended up ?? i originally used them to install 510 struts into a 120y and retain the original control arms.
hope this may help in the search

 Re: Steering Arm
Looking in my several 1200 parts books.

The knuckles for 1200s always finish in one of these numbers:

-H1000
-H7400
-H7440

Other B210 part numbers don't use -210xx, so it is unlikely it'll be 120Y.

I thought maybe it was from a C210 Skyline? Doesn't look like that either, but that's unconfirmed.

David beat me to it. If 510 parts have the second lot of numbers starting with 210..it's most likely to be that.

It uses the smaller 1200 ball joint but the larger tie rod end 180b/stanza.

Did the 510 models use the smaller taper of the 1200 ball joint, but the larger tie rod end of the L series powered cars?
If the answer is yes, then we would have a winner.
