A14 head, medium-oval ports and water passages below the intake ports. This one has high compression closed chamber.

 Re: head A14 GX
looks identical to the normal A14 head I've had lying around at home for years (going on NoPSI's car), and the head that was on the A14 I bought for my old white coupe years ago. The valves were 35 and 29mm I think.

What distinguishes this "GX" version from the common A14 head?

The so-called "GX" head is what US racers call the Nissan Competition A14 head: oval ports and closed chamber. This was not original equipment in any US models (I think).

 Re: head A14 GX
I found my closed chamber oval port on a fwd pulsar a14 and to me when I and a machine shop compared it to a 1200 gx head there were no differences even on valve sizes or port sizes. The a14 closed chamber oval port has the in and exhaust valves almost touching each other and are bigger than on all the a15 engines ive pulled apart. There arent any noticeable differences except the dble springs and maybe different valve gear setup.

the only difference i've ever seen was in the a14 oval port head, the top of the inlet port is lower than the a12 gx head.as this is only a small amount, port matching the a14 head will give you the same height.i think this is for a straighter path to the inlet valve.
