The graph shows stock engine outputs in Kw/Kg of engine mass vs potential power outputs typically achieved from the same engine.

Quinn,
You take the prize. I did put the code around the wrong way.

Great pic.

Look how close the A12 through to the FJ20DE powerbars are.

I just have a question.
If you put a A12 in a bodyshell and for example a FJ20DE in another bodyshell and both car's power to mass ratio is the same, will they perform from 0 to 100km/h the same ?

Yes, more of less. The power/weight ratio will be the same, so the performance will be similar.

Now, if you look at it this way it makes some sense:
A 300 HP chrysler hemi (at 750 pounds)

vs.
A 300 HP CA18DET (at 282 pounds)

In this case, the CA-powered 1200 vehicle in total will be lighter, therefore faster. Lighter engine, lighter tranny, lighter rear axle. Granted, you could build up the Hemi to more than 300 HP ... but remember that original hemis were less than 300 HP net from the factory.

DD I can only assume you are not talking about old King Kong ,the 426 Hemi which was rated at 425 HP straight out of the box.

The 426 was 2nd-gen Hemi.
Ok, so 425 HP hemi vs 425 HP CA18DET. Guess which one will make a faster Datsun 1200? The car that weighs less will generally be the more quickly accelerating one.
