Methinks when I take the engine out to fix it up, I'll have to upgrade the brakes as well. Luckily now I'll be close to my dad, having free machining to my hearts content, of the highest quality.

From which Skyline did they come?

Thanks your work has inspired me...

cool, good inspiration shots

i just won a set of four coil over sleeve kits on ebay.... hope they arn't too shiet

was hoping to get those calipers on also, did you have a template for the caliper mount?

not sure if i should get 180b or 200b struts yet??

good to see you got the discs to work, might have to order a set of blanks, so theres no extra holes after drilling them to suit

oh yeah.. where did you get your adjustable tops? i'm looking around for a cheap set

discs from an r33, machined down to 292m to fit in trx rims, calipers from an r32

no template really, but its not that hard to work out

get the disc modded to suit the hub then as long as you have newish pads and discs you can just slide the caliper onto the disc in the spot you want and start bracket making

for these brakes 200b struts are the way to go as the caliper mounting tags are a better offset, need a 10mm spacer i think between the strut and the caliper bracket to line the caliper up perfect with the disc, go to the next pic back in my album to see the bracket

the adjustable tops are JIC ones from an s13, they used to live in unfams sedan

gtst, same as 300zx calipers

they originally suit a 280mm disc but they are just right for the 296mm discs when used on 200b struts

any smaller than around 290mm disc and the caliper mounting tags on the strut and caliper start to run into each other

had to grind 2mm off the end of the steering arms so that the caliper and bracket would fit

also had to grind the fins off one of the calipers to get even 1mm of clearance at all piont around the rim

so its damn close

what rotors have you used? did they bolt up to the hub? did you have to machine them at all?

ps love your work

used 296x30 r33 gtst rotors

no they dont bolt up the the hub, nothing a lathe and drill press dont fix

have to machine the centre hole of the disc out, from 68mm to 73mm, then drill 4 new holes to mount to the hub
also will most likely machine the disc down 4 mm in diameter so that it has more clearance to the caliper, got about 1mm if that atm

Swapping the brakes to the front has a couple of advantages and sometimes nesesaties. The callipers will be getting more direct air for cooling since it's not blocked by the control arm.

The nesessty thing thiing is that some of these larger brake setups foul on the steering arm\linkages so to fit them properly would require to pretty nifty bending of those items which isn't easy to get right.

Ian's brakes are front mounted and the steering linkages still had to be slighty cold bent to give the right angles and stuff.

yeah hopefully nothing getting in there between the caliper and the wheel.....dont want to scratch the nicely painted calipers

had to mount the caliper at the front as it would have the steering arm go straight through it other wise
