 Re: Timeslip
This is the fastest my 1200 has ever gone. I guess, since it was the first time I took it to the drags.

Saturday night at Portland International Raceway was a kind of open racing. You just pay $23 for parking and racing and could run as many times as you want. I probably could have ran 20-30 times if I felt like it. Cars there ranged from Volvo wagons to one dragster and one drag motorcycle. Mostly lots of Camaros, Mustangs and Civics from mild to wild. An Oregon melting pot of car-dom.

Anyways I ran six times with ranges from:
60 ft: 2.641 to 2.782 seconds
1/8 mile: 12.4 @ 53 mph to 12.7 @ 53
1/4 mile: 20.215 @ 64.65 mph 19.887 @ 65.18

The little 1200 is pretty consistent.

My reaction time got better with each run:
.904, .663, .440, .329, .349, .156

By the way, the other car in the timeslip was a 1200 also.

 Re: Timeslip & Horsepower calculation
Hi everyone,

I've been trying out some HP calculators. Here's the consensus: Quote:
Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method

Your Datsun 1200 weighs about 1900 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 19.887 seconds. That means that you've got about 47.75 HP at the wheels, and about 62.07 HP at the flywheel.
Great Lakes Dragways analyzer

47.75 hp - Turbofast.com.au

44.41 hp - Dragtimes.com

62 tested flywheel hp with an engine factory-rated at 69 hp, is better than I expected. Remember my engine is completely stock except for the distributor.

 Re: Timeslip & Horsepower calculation
That is the fastest 60ft time in the history of the racetrack (according to the track announcer) -- and done by a Datsun 1200!.

The left lane Datsun 1200 had a little bit more HP than mine (right lane).
