Gee, I got put the search engine to the memory to go back far enough, but the fuel rails in the 70's, running huge stroker 392 hemis with nitro & lotsa Detroit Deisel huffer boost were pulling these times.
But they were dedicated drag chassis,[not modified passenger cars] with V8 engines & 180" wheelbases.
This feller does it in a passenger bodied car, with a 90.6" wheelbase & a FOUR cylinder engine.
They used to get about 200mph back then, but his slower 177mph speed tells me that he REALLY got with the program in the early part of the run in order to overcome the losses with the lower speed at the top end.
Not too shabby for a car with it's engine over the front axle [pretty much]. Not too damn shabby at all.
The downside?
No nitro fumes to make the crowds eyes water, no earth shaking & pounding under your feet, no zoomies with a 2 foot flame & liquid nitro spraying into the air & no V8 noise at 200 decibels, .... just efficient 7 second times.
Damn Japanese technology.
EDIT
For those too lazy to look it up, it has an SR20 & for the $45,500 asking price, it really is a lot of fast for the money.
I suspect that very few people could build a developed & sorted 7 second car from scratch for that kind of money. Very few indeed.
