 Re: Progress!
this pic is out of date as the Defect III has the A12 out of The Yellow Peril (January '81 Sunny) and the clutch/F4W60L out of the Defect in it now...

I had a nasty suprise when I removed the gearbox out of The defect... broken left engine mount and gearbox mount... I had NO idea I'd broken them... however I seem to recollect that the engine made a few banging sounds I thought were backfires... it also broke what would have been the exhaust hanging point on it when it was in the sunny that I presume it came out of...

which was my gearbox mounting point...

doesn't appear to have damaged the extention housing - just made it so I'll have to use the "proper mounting point for the gearbox...

thankfully I have a manual crossmember from TYP... it doesn't look to rusted...

might need a litre of killrust though! lol

I was going to pull the centre out of the H145, and fit the 3.889 ratio H150B centre out of The Yellow Peril... but the axles would NOT come out...
It now has the Borg Waner 68 out of the original Defect under it and the tailshaft too of course

just needs a new Master Cylinder and Wheel Cylinders, shockies fixed and front wheel bearings replaced...

and then I will be able to drive it properly

tomorrow I will tighten up the spring shackles properly and fill the gearbox with oil...
