I don't know why I'm posting this pick, maybe I'm in self destruct mode, but it does include one of the many Datsuns we have owned in the past. It was a 1600 Deluxe, I think other countriesreffer to them as 510's... I was probably in the region of 12 years old, which is about 21 years ago...

1200GXman might even recognize the number plate as a Bothaville one, it's a small town about 200km's North of where he stays in the Free-State... The pickture was taken in Klerksdorp though, about another 60km's North in the old Western Transvaal. Which is where I grew up, and in itself explains a lot about why I would actually post this picture of myself...

I recognize the good old day's numberplates.
And yes, this part of the country is a little hot and dry.

My father was also a Datsun fenatic in the early 70's. His friends and himself had 1200's, 1200GX's and 1600's or also called 510's.
His was a 1600SSS with the Hitachi SU's.
Sold it with 300 000km on the clock.
His one friend had a 1600SSS.
Purchased a Datsun comp cylinder head,sidedrafts and a cam.
When flooring it in first and changing gears to second quickly it threw sparks because of the tail hitting the road.
