the yellow and red area are valve seat. i found that yellow area are rather useless, then can i grind off this part? any side effect? air flow will be better? |

Re: grind off valve seat? That pic is not really right as the seat is strait, like a tube.
If you've never ported a head it would be a very bad idea to start on the seat area as you will get in to trouble very fast.

Re: grind off valve seat? You had better not sharpen the valve seat very much. There is the case that a problem is over in strength. When a valve seat sinks into the cylinder head, there is it.

I have spoken to quite a few guys about the venturi affect (when a tube is tapered it forces the air to speed up) around the valve seat and I have been warned against removing to much material as it promotes slower air flow (not a problem if you are running a turbo), just something to think about.
