I stopped at the Nissan dealership in Bloemfontien Yesterday to do some fishing about the new bakkie. I asked the salesman for a quote on a new STD 1400 bakkie as I was unsure if I would like the new bakkie. He told me that I should wait 2 months for the new bakkie to be unveiled and he is sure that I would like it, as it is front wheel drive and built by Renault, a real corsa / bantam beater. I almost burst out laughing at him and then almost cried.

SO MYTH CONFIRMED.

Dacia Bakkie, not a replacement for the Nissan Bakkie.
OK, it's a Dacia Bakkie [Bakkie being native for "dumb thing that humps a load" or something like that.]

BOOOOO HISSSSSSS to the Dacia Bakkie as well.

Beattie, I also saw that artical on 24.com. I am hoping Nissan does not use this SH-TTY looking Dacia as the replacement model for the 1400 bakkie. I also hope the proton is not one of the contenders. Nissan sould build there own version of a 3/4 ton UTE with RWD. Lets wait and see what happens.

From Car torque:

As for spares, supplies should last until about 2050 even when production ends in the not-too distant future. Oh yes, and it still goes like the clappers.

The world has taken a sad turn. I was hoping to visit the factory line last November, before it stopped, but health problems with a family member prevented it.
