Re: Blown Headgasket This is just an el-cheapo gasket from an el-cheapo vrs set. Can anyone recommend a good brand to go for that's not gonna cost too much ie. don't really wanna fork out for a metal shim type gasket for this engine.

Re: Blown Headgasket Yikes, that really burn through.
Nothing wrong with El Cheapo brand. Just be sure to re-torque it after 100 miles and then every 12 months.
Oh, and be sure she's not running lean.

Re: Blown Headgasket Yeah I retorqued it twice, once after initial warm up and again after a shakedown run at a local racetrack. My last gasket was retorqued the same and lasted two years of racing. I think the new rings and better compression probably helped this happen, maybe I should back the timing off a smidge.

Re: Blown Headgasket Aiden, I have used Monotorque for years and they have never let me down yet; and at ~$25 AU they wont bust the bank...
BTW 3 seconds quicker is a fantastic effort, well done [with reference to the supersprint at OP.]

Re: Blown Headgasket yeah I've only ever used ACL monotoque gaskets. Avoid the Ezy-Fit ones apparantly they are no good.

Re: Blown Headgasket Thanks guys, I'll try and get my hands on one of those. I guess sometimes we have to learn things the hard way huh.
