Hi all you datto fans.
Well here is a pic of my latest purchase.
No it's not another 120y coupe unfortunately, but a 120y sedan.
I went out to a wreckers to find another brake booster for my brothers ke20 corolla, and came across this sitting in their yard.
I just couldn't resist myself from buying it, mainly for front end parts for my 120y coupe's.
It's a 1977 a12 4 speeed with borgwarner diff. The motor runs very sweet and quiet.

If it was built new with the Warner rear axle assembly, then it's a July 1976 or later, Aussie assembled car & it will have the Armstrong Struts & the Girlock brake ststem.
As a complete assembly the whole strut & brake will intercgange into your Coupe, but the caliper's bore diameter will not be compatible with your master cylinder, so you would need to switch that as well.

The rear wheel cylinder bore size is different too & since nothing in the brakes will interchange with the Jap stuff in your coupes, it might be easier to switch rear ends except that they use different shock absorber setups between sedans & coupes which might be an inconvenience.

Thanks dodgeman for your reply.
Yeah it's a 5/77 aussie assembled sedan.
Also are the borgwarner diffs any stronger then the 120y japan diffs? and what ratio do the borgwarners run?
Cheers.

BW should be stronger than the H150, they came with 3.9 gears but you can get 4.11 or 4.3 gears out of manual and auto ke55s respectively.

I think they're stronger than the H165?

Nice score, price?

EDIT: Stronger than the H165!

The diff will go straight in. And swap the brakes over also as the backing plates are retained by the axle. They are a much better rear brake assy anyway. The shocks will be retained bu the lower retaining bracket same as a wagon or van so the factory welded shock mount need not be removed. The ratio of the BW will be 3.89:1. And they are pretty strong but as with all diffs their natural enemy is the burnout. If it were a CIG locker then it will take as much punishment as an A series can dish out.

Nice score. I hate it when you are after a part and come home with a car. Not as much as my wife though.

I will most likely be using the front guards, bonnet and front apron as spares.
So if anyone is after 120y sedan parts that are small enough to pack into a box, then just let me now.
Yeah between me and my brother I don't know who's got the most spares for their cars. Just have to build another shed to put them in.
or start my own datsun 120y parts shop.
