It's interesting that a vehicle that is so clearly a 1200 Ute was actually marketed as a 120Y in South Africa. I don't know what years, but I presume that it was sometime in the 1974 to about 1982 period. [Yes, I know that the one in the picture is a 1977 model]

Remembering of course that South Africa did not manufacture the real 120Y [B210] in passenger car form, although I seem to recall that things like 140Y's or 140Z's based on the KPB210 Excelent were offered in ZA.

Why on earth they would call this Ute a 120Y when they were still being marketed as Sunny 1200 trucks or as Datsun 1200 Utes in other major markets is a mystery to me.

Mmmmm, my grandmother owned a 120Y and then a 140Y, and I've seen plenty of 120Y's drive around.

Unless the B210 is something completely different than what I think it is...???

120Y? Why not?

Looks nice. It seems canopies are very popular in SA. They are pretty rare here in USA these days but were very common in the 80s.

all it needs is that canopy to get the fling and it wo9uld be a very tidy ute
