It's more than likely for car identification, so the pit crew can tell which of their cars is coming past. Different tape colours for different cars, especially if the cars are the same colour. Good to see colour photos of these cars, now who's going to be the first to do a replica?

I would of though its to keep the screen in after replacing one during the race... but why on the front of the bonnet?

Bonnet is definitely a mystery - doesn't look like there is even any damage, and the tape doesn't seem to be holding the bonnet down.
