Nissan dog gears and busted input shaft

This is from a GTR box I rebuilt this week. It had sheared the input shaft and had some damage to the dog teeth. The broached dog rings on the top are pressed and spot welded to the gears and the selector rings are below and to the right of the input shaft. The GTR runs a helical gearset, same as our Evo kit. Otherwise the box was in fairly good nick. |

Re: Nissan dog gears and busted input shaft Although you cant see from the photo, the dogs were fretting. the rings are usually the first to wear out being the highest consumable item on a dog box. By replacing the rings you tend to get a batter service life from the gear dogs. This is a simular setup to the Porche kit that we do.
This is just so people can get an idea of what a dog box looks like and how they work.
