Piston dish is 6 cc.  Decked block for piston 0.006 inch above deck.  Felpro head gasket is 0.041 inch compressed, so quench clearance is 0.035 inch.

.035 is getting pretty tight. I read a thread at moparts which was saying that 40thou was about right. I guess datsun A12's aren't quite the same as 440's lol.

0.035 inch is good for a precision small-bore engine like the Datsun A12. Precision as in tight piston-to-bore clearances which reduces piston rocking at high RPM

35 thousands is good, 30thou is even better and makes about 2% more HP than 40thou. That's like the gain from a 1 point compression increase. And all without causing more detonation. Like an octane booster!
