This is a headgasket from an A12 VRS kit sitting on my A15 block out of curiosity.
What's the deal? where are the bore rings supposed to sit on these? |

Re: A15 bore pic What is your question? The piston ring sit inside the cylinder, about a cm down.
The stainless rings on the gasket are just for sealing.

Re: A15 bore pic the question I spose is why are the head gaskets the same size? I checked it against the A14\15 ones I have at home and they'res no difference in the bore size

Re: A15 bore pic The better A12 head gaskets have a smaller bore to match the A12 block. An A14 gasket can be fitted to A12 block and work well, but it is not optimal.

Re: A15 bore pic one gasket fits all. on a stock engine it's not that critical if the fire ring is not exactly the same size as the bore of the block. cylinder pressures are not that great until you start to push the envelope more than 10:1. mine is at 9.8 and eight years old and flogged daily.

Re: A15 bore pic also, the A14 A15 engines use the same bore, just different strokes.... and obviously then also different conrods.

Re: A15 bore pic Quote: also, the A14 A15 engines use the same bore, just different strokes.... and obviously then also different conrods. A14 /15 share the same length conrod. wrist pin height is different with A14 to A15 pistons.
