Re: A15 3 these are the G34 pistonsThey are used with closed chamber H89 head and the offset dish allows some measure of quench

Re: A15 3 yeah i see what you mean how the dish is offset. Ratsun_a14: yep the more the dish the lower the compression

Re: A15 3 My A14 looks like this....your dish seems a little offset - different to mine anyway.

Re: A15 3 does the dish lower the compression? what is the compression of the motor with pistons like that?

Re: A15 3 Dude these are the pistons fitted to the motor the day it was built at the Nissan factory - the compression of the motor with these pistons is the Nissan specified compression ratio 9.0:1.
These are not special pistons that drop the compression ratio of the engine.
Have you seen a standard Nissan A series with flat pistons before? I never say never - but I've only looked inside 3 and they were all dished to some degree...

Re: A15 3 Your standard A10's and GX's have the flats.
Never seen the bigger engines with standard flats.
I have seen the offset recesses before but never on any of my engines.

Re: A15 3 chris is on the money a10's had flatys so did the majority of gx's except some used dished pistons if you want super low comp then an a10 head would be the goods but its round port (doesnt really matter when its boosted) but some say the round ports are better with angles

Re: A15 3 nah sorry but yeah think they r stock cause i haven't changed em, do you reckon these pistons would go alright with a turbo, i.e. lower enough compression. cause i was thinking of turboin it later on?

Re: A15 3 Yeah i reakon they could be decompression pistons becase the standard ones are flat,But i could be wrong. i reakon they would be ideal for a turbo set up

Re: A15 3 Dish is pretty stock - I've had dished pistons in 2 A12's (early and late) and an A14 stock - not sure which engine has flat pistons stock....
