It's a speed limiting device.

The panel at the top is angled down to catch the wind. As the speed increases, so too does the drag in this panel. It's obviously mounted a long way from the rear wheel centerline to maximise the leverage, & when the pressure up there is great enough, it forces the car to rotate on it's rear wheels causing the front [drive] wheels to lift off the ground.

The safety aspect of losing steering control is addressed by having the front lift up progressively, according to the speed, & this makes the steering get light, forcing the driver to reduce power before uncontrolled wheelspin takes over.

I wonder if it is patented.

1.6L transversley mounted I-4 did have 4 valves per cyl. the prelude 2.2 si didnt make it to this heap in the states, oh well at least it not variable valve timed. i would have been more impressed if he cut it from steel, or angle iron at least!

theyre 'girls cars'... so what?? does that mean these people (ie. these girls) have less of a right to own a car than you do? i doubt it. does it make u special in any way, shape or form? no. id just like to ask what the #### youre on to make you think people other than yourself cant have their own tastes and likes. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just coz u dont like excels doesnt mean theyre girls cars, not everyone is fortunate enough to find and own a pristine datsun. most people cant stand the stench of cars that are 30+ years old. it doesnt make YOU a better person, so get over it, theyre only cars.
