H89 head with 42mm inlets. A14force 2009/9/1 9:57 Tell a friend 3907 7 0.00 (0 votes)
This is my head. I'm not sure what the valves are out of, but they have been cut down a bit, and I think new grooves for the retainers have been cut. I've had this head bolted to the block, and looked down through the bore into the chamber from the bottom of the block. The Exhaust valve was quite close to the bore, (It's only the standard 32mm) but the inlet has quite a reasonable clearance on the bore wall. (I'll post a pic next time I bolt the head on. |

Re: H89 head with 42mm inlets. Wow, aren't those valve a bit too close to each other? I can just imagine how close it's going to be flying past each other with full revs.

Re: H89 head with 42mm inlets. Steveo, It's coming along slowly. I need the car to be back on the road in 8 weeks, and it's going to be a close thing. Most of the machining work has been done. I just have to raise a bit of coin to buy a few more things.
1200GXman, I hope they don't hit. The head had been run with these valves before I got it. So judging by how well used the seats etc were it must have been okay.

Re: H89 head with 42mm inlets. Sure is Morgan. I've had it overhauled, and a minor up of the ports. (injector releifs filled in) Some of the inlet seats were knackered too. I'm not thrilled about the amount of meat above the retro cut retainer groove on one of them either. But a mate has given me a few new valves to play with.

Re: H89 head with 42mm inlets. I think Bart these valves are the 42mm inlets from a ca20 engine, initially I thought they where the L16 inlet ones but after looking at my CA 8v ones they look pretty much spot on!
Love the shape of these chambers and with supercharger your setup must fly! must have some serious spring pressure to stop them colliding with each other or the valve guides angled properly for clearance at full lift.
