 Re: Roy Butler's B210 Engine installed The holes in the upper cowl area are there to help let the air out from the upper half of the engine cavity where there's no movement of air. This drops the engine compartment temperature up to 20 degrees by keeping air flowing around the motor at all times. These holes are not in the firewall. This lets air out of the cowl vent.
