* Green arrow is direction the vacuum advance faces
* Yellow arrow is rotation of the rotor
Firing order goes according to Yellow arrow (opposite of green arrow)

mine started where the 3 is. went around in the same order but just one step over.

is this bad?

Yes that is fine. When put the engine to TDC mark for #1 cylinder, note where the rotor points, and start from there. The photo here is the stock distributor location. But it can work correct in other positions.

You would have to remove the dizzy and retime it to make it look the same. It is not necessary.
