i have a '74 SSS in standrad trim, (never had a cage or anthing in it. they are good fast litle cars and very injoyable to drive. it is the same as the last time i owned one - 20 years ago. and yes the 90 hp is correct.

Interesting they called this SSS instead of GX. Nissan only used SSS for Bluebird, Blubird-U and Violet.

Thanks Heaps to Bullit for posting this review. It's another piece in the 1200 jigsaw puzzle.

Yes, thanks Bullit for the clear scans. This answers some questions about the SSS.

What about that "90hp" reported? Seems high for a motor with a cam, carbs, and extractors -- but standard unmodified 1200 round-port head! The factory GX oval-port engine was only rated at 83hp although it revved higher than the SSS.

The two 1200 SSS in the B&H 500 were registed FP1992 and FP1993. Both these plates are still active.

Implying both cars are still on the road

Bullitt, how can one find out if the plates are still active? Is this information the government provides?

In NZ anyone can apply for info on a rego number by paying 5 dollars to the Motor Registration Dept. It can be a good thing for tracking down cars but there are a lot of arseholes using it to steal cars to order....

 Re: 1200SSS Review
I just went to www.plates.co.nz and searched to see if the plates were available as personalised plates and they wernt.

If you go to the post office you can for $5 find out who the plate belongs to. You can also pay $5 and find out who has found out the details on the car. Looks abit dodgy if someone searched for you car straight before it was nicked
