What is this about "new wagons" in November 1972? That would be the 1973 model year. Was that the first year 1200 wagons came to NZ?

Also are these "new, bigger, reclining bucket seats" with "built-in high headrests" something specific to New Zealand?

Yep the seats are unique and were sourced in NZ I believe but were based on the standard 1200 ones. The headrest was integral with the seat not on two poles like the coupes. Also it is only the very early cars that got the plastic woodgrain steering wheels which I suspect were the JDM GX ones. The photo of the engine shows two air cleaners but the production SSS s had one large oval one like the 1600 SSS.

Im guessing the production 1200 SSS air cleaner looked more like this
120Y SSS motor
