It's a 4 post hydraulic lift, just like the ones at the exhaust shop... Altough sometimes a 2 post lift, compete with arms is handier.. depends what you are doing..for home use..a 4 post is bloody very handy..I'm envious.

Chris.

Ahhh... I understand...
I was going to make a side garage outside my house... I was thinking of digging a pit so I could work under the car like the guys at rego stations...
Then I realised that it would probably require effort, so I left the weeds as they were and had a six pack while watching cartoons...

Ookaay ... excuse me for not getting it, and I'm not trying to be mean, but just how is this going to help a ca18de conversion?

Perhaps this will help

no more crawling under the car with jack
stands and a creeper.
and yes it has safetys, takes 2 buttons and
plugging it in to go up.. it is still scary when
it gets close to the ceeling.. the rack has
casters and a long chord so I can use it
outside the garage if I want to go all the
way up..

MAN.....I am so jealous.....I'd love a hoist at home.

Just a thought......how would a hoist go if it were under a carport? How badly would weather effect it? I'm thinking a two post hoist - so i can swing the arms back, and drive through the middle to the garage

I am about to put a new carport in....so I could make it higher in anticipation ...... mmmmm something else to think about.

there's no problems with having a hoist outside as long as it is maintained properly. A friend's workshop has an outside hoist without any cover, and another workshop I used to work at had a couple of outside hoists covered by shade sails.

Don't be surprised if you might have problems with local council regulations though! You'll also need 3 phase power.

OK....Well, I've got the three phase power running to the garage already..... dad's a sparky

It's just food for thought at this stage.....but damn that would be handy!

 Re: Rack arrives
I agree with L18_B110 "as long as it is maintained properly". In many of the places I have worked we regularly gurnied cars on the hoist with water going everywhere. If its under a car port its still to a degree protected from the weather.
With council regulations I can see there being more problem with the desired height of the carport than to do with the hoist itself, if power and electrical controls are suitably protected from the weather.

Cheers Steve
