Re: L-series engine crossmember Thought I might add a correction as this oil pan is NOT a 4x4 oil pan from a 1980 720 4x4. All of the 4x4 trucks use a rear sump pan. 1980 was the only year in the USA when an L-series was installed and this particular motor used a cast aluminum pickup tube and a rear sump. In 4x4 trucks the differential mounts to the front of the motor. The wings of the pan shown would obstruct the front differential.

Re: L-series engine crossmember What do you think the pan is from? It looks like the one on the Nissan Van Z24.

Re: L-series engine crossmember its not a 720 4x4 sump, they have the hump sticking out the side at the back/middle and its a useless sump for anything but the 720
i think an urvan or vannette. whichever had teh Z series in it miht have had a sump like this

Re: L-series engine crossmember urvan and vanette are no go Im afraid. Ive been looking under datsuns like a junkie at wreckers for years and never seen this pan. Maybe its from the datsun 1800 GL or other early L series engined car rarely sold here.

Re: L-series engine crossmember The Z24 oil pan for GC22 Vanette/Nissan Van is: * 11110-17C00 PAN ASSY-OIL Yes, it is a winged sump, similar to the one in the photo (as I saw at the wreckers last April). Yes it is a rare bird.
Do Z-series and L-series oil pans interchange?

Re: L-series engine crossmember The photo was taken by an aussie and he told me it was from a 720 4x4. That's all I know.
I've only seen one Vanette in my life, it was american market and had the Z-series engine, and a sump like this one.

Re: L-series engine crossmember yeah i saw some kinda nissan van in at the local clutch and brack place having an engine swap a couple of years ago and there were 2 Z series engines sitting on the floor that both had a sump like that. although i think the hump only can out the right hand side not both
was back before i really cared too much about it so didnt really have a good look at them

Re: L-series engine crossmember Sounds wonderful then, I will be on the search for this sump for the Ca18, it certainly makes things easier to cut, shut and look more stock.
