Hi Guys. Please give your comment on my car.
I got it this weekend after a sprayjob.
Just needs carpet replaced.
Will post soon my website with more pictures.

Good one!

I like it a lot. I'd lower it a bit more, to improve the ride height vs. wheel diameter ratio. But it looks like a beaut car.

The GX Bonnet is certainly something you should also be on the lookout for.

You are an asset to the "1200 restorers" community!

Save the Datsuns!

1200GXman, very nice.

Did this car start life as a GX? I think the first year the GX hood was the same as non-GX.

ddgonzal.

In South Africa, where I live, we only got the 1200 sedans the way you see it now.
I would like to get a GX bonnet, but we never got them like that. They just looked as it is in my photo with the GX badges displaying it as a GX.
My dad bought it for my mother to drive while I was still in school.
This little car took my sister and I to school and back for years.
I went to University and basically used it when it rained as I rode bike to university when weather was good.
I decided to chat to my dad to get it from him as a present and with a HUGE struggle he did.
It is only after visiting 1200.com that I decided I just had to restore it.
I am sooooo glad I did it.
It catches alot of attention.
Even got someone that wants to buy it.
You all know what I told that guy.
I just want to make it now save so that nobody can steal it.
They love to steal them here in south africa.
Any suggestions?
My dad said we must hide a switch that breaks the coils power to the plugs so that they would'nt be able to start it.
Thanks for you all's comment.
I am very prowd of my datsun now.

Looks great! Love the unique wheel choice. What are they? What size?

Hi Guys.
The mags are Racing Heart Concept.(The make). The mags's name is Rocketeer.
I do not know if you can get it in Australia or Japan. I am from South Africa.
I am very glad that I have putted them on.
Tyres are Firestone Firehawk 185/60 R13.
They rubbed at the back and the guy that did the sprayjob grinded the little lip at the back smaller to give the wheels space to travel. It is now much better when going through dips in the road. Going to put in a 276 cam soon.
Still a stock 1200GX motor with Su's.
Gave stock A14 utilities a whipping a while back.

absolutely LOVE the wheels. We usually roll the lip up when there is a clearance problem & this would have been best done before the paint job. This retains the strength of the join between the outer panel & the inner guard & provides a smooth surface for the tyre to rub on should it touch again.

The 185/60/13 is "THE" correct size for fronts, but i have run 205/60/13's on the rear of my 1000 sedan in an attempt to gear it up a little as the GX engine provided enough power to pull a gear ratio that is even higher than the 3.9 to 1 diff & the 205's can provide.

It's a great little car. Be proud.
Chris
