Re: Vented 1200 fenders The tyre is stretched like that so the side walls are stretched and are more ridgid (Doesnt let the tyre move from side to side on the rim) Its used for drifting. Makes the back end more prone to loosing traction, no give in the sidewalls. But the fenders dont look too bad but dont suit a 1200 though, too modern.

Re: Vented 1200 fenders a bit off topic from the flares which i think look ok maybe with the mesh stuff painted black, but what's with japs and having their rims stick out further than their tires????

Re: Vented 1200 fenders You know what, I have no idea why they stick the rims out further than the tires, in this case it's pretty mild, but I have seen some EXTREME cases where the sidewall is like stretched to it's max to reach the edges of the rim. Don't know why they just don't buy the appropriate sized rims/tires. Either way there are a ton of cars here in Japan like that though. Only thing I'd like to see is a version of this fender that is flared more. Other than that I think they're not too bad...I think this is the same company that makes the carbon fiber hoods for the 1200's, the ads are right next to each other on Yahoo and it looks like the same Ute.

Re: Vented 1200 fenders Quote: Are there any benefits to something like this Yes, it makes the company that sells it big money. Aside from that probably not. Some cars have (big) vents like this as a legitimate airlflow aid to the engine compartment, but from the size and location of these, I doubt they have any real effect.

Re: Vented 1200 fenders Quote: from the size and location of these, I doubt they have any real effect. Oh, they would have one HUGE effect. They would make it really easy to sling road dirt all over your doors. My $0.02? No sir, I don't like it. Lines are cool, flares are cool, vents are dumb.

Re: Vented 1200 fenders If it's a real vent, then they will only pass crud onto the body, but i suspect that they are fake, & it's all a big wank.
If these are truly a one-off, then perhaps it's reasonable to ask,...Why is the owner so all fired keen to get rid of them? Put another way, if they really are good stuff, why doesn't he want them anywhere near his car? Chris

Re: Vented 1200 fenders Quote: what's with japs and having their rims stick out further than their tires???? It's just a style thing... I actually like it. It's a common look in the UK, too. Especially on European cars. It's not terribly functional, but I think it looks cool.

Re: Vented 1200 fenders Tell me, what do you think of these fenders for the 1200? I just don't know if I like it or not! Are there any benefits to something like this or is it just asthetics? Not to mention it is getting a little "Ricey" but they are new fenders and would make the 1200 unique.
