 Re: My ute
narh no difference with when i lowered it....

my personal opinon is that the utes were maybe assembled at different factories in japan before shipment and had slight difference in these areas?? cause i have seeen 2 peice front bumpers on my mates utes (late and early utes) and mine is a one peice bumper etc etc so i think these may have a factor in the slight slight differences in all the 1200 utes........?

Can you measure the wheelbase? It looks like the rear wheels are too far forwards. If these wheelbase is less, can you tell us what rear springs you've chosen to use?

Is it possible that the wheelbase is a little less as a result of the greater arch of the ute spring? You can see the highly arched spring in the photo. When a load is applied [well, it IS a ute] the spring flattens some & the rear axle moves to the rear. By how much? Beats me.
The springs in my 1000 are much flatter, & if i remember rightly, 1200 coupe springs are close to flat too.

 Re: My ute
no... the reason that the wheels in the rear are closer up, is besause: the person is using bigger wheals so he decided to ad legnth to his leaf spings by using one of those "exstender kit things" .. "those metal brackets that bolt on in between the leaf spring and rear frame mount" mostly used to make a pick up trucks or jeeps higher.
any ways he preatty much had to use those, because there is not much you can do to make bigger rims fit. unless they "tuch under" ... ...
....so the reason for the wheels to move Up is that; the diff and whole rear suspention is "free moving". so it actually swings from front to back, like if you take off hella fast it will swing. unless you use one of them "diff stay put bars" , that they use in race aplications ...
... anyways to fix it "if he even wants to" ...all he needs to do is; RELOCATE and FABRICATE. the rear leaf spring mounts, AND MOVE THAM BACK SOME.. or next time just get rims that have the correct off center to tuch under....
... or maybe he likes it JUST THE WAY IT IS , AND THATS COOL TOO......

oh yeah. P.S. ,,, you got to be really care full when doing what he did..."HTERE IS LOTS OF STRAIN ON HIS U JOINTS IN HIS DRIVE LINE RIGHT NOW, BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE HIS DIFFERENTIAL IN "his diff and his drive line makes like a 135 digree angle" i think if he takes off healla fast he might bust his u joints.....

YES DODGEMAN IS ACTUALLY WRONG...AND YES I CAN TELL ALL THAT JUST BY LOOKING AT THE PHOTO....DEAN

Are you sure mate? Have a good look at most of the other ute pics posted on the site... They all pretty much look like their rear wheels are too far forward- Im pretty damn sure that dodgeman is right, its got to do with the load on the back of the ute. I know my ute looks the same & I certainly havn't played with any "exstender kit things" as you mention.

YEAH, i am pretty sure. see how the rear leaf spring does NOT actually touch the rear mount... it is like a "spacer" .....

I think tommy's is a early 80's... not 100% sure though. B120dat youve lowered your ute... did you notice anything before you lowered it?

Maybe it has something to do with wear and tear? or age...

 Re: My ute
Both Dodgeman and Enos1 are correct in saying the diff will move towards the rear with load. This is because the front of the spring mounts are fixed and the rear are mounted with shackles. As the springs flatten out the length of the springs is increased and the diff is moved backward.

If you have your springs reset flatter the diff will have moved backwards. As Dodgeman says "how far" ? Maybe you never noticed as it wasnt something you were looking for.

If you bought new lowered springs maybe they are actually shorter to compensate for this movement.

Enos1 is only saying the rear shackles have been swapped for longer ones because you can see the end of the spring from this angle and it this looks like the shackles have been extended.

Only Tommy knows

You must be! you didnt correct my use if the word diff and say the correct wording is rear axle assembly, you also never gave a story on how its strange I used the word shackles when the word shackles was given to what prisoners were restrained in originating back in 1843.

Are you not well?

Diff, rear axle, shackels, i figured you were baiting me.
You have just drawn our attention to these points yourself, so perhaps you were.

Thanks for the credit anyway.

VERY NICE!!!!!!!
My suggestion is drop the rear end of the ute and she'll be perfect

Cheers
