Id rather a Katana (jp sword) handle sitting up high near the steering wheel like rally car setups and short shift travel and a tube to disguise the full length sword which comes in handy for people with shopping trolley playing dodgem cars on your door when you are still sitting in your car.

Its something original and different so well done on that area but my personal "opinion" is that I don't like it.

But each to there own - I've been told a million times to chrome my front bumper but I like it colour coded (B120dat ).

Does that mean there is a knife blade sitting around somewhere with a MOMO handle?

yeah it doesnt seem to bad. It is still quite easy to shift quickly as there is alot of area to grab

It's easier to grab something round, rather than having to grip around something, but it's like some of the old "street rodder" kind of style. (I'm trying to avoid any puns)

It's different, I think a samurai sword handle would be cool, I'd also like a 2 foot long short throw shifter for cruising, with a small skull as the gearknob.

That's cool looking. Not sure it would be good for quick shifting though, a rounded knob might be more comfortable. Try it out for a while and see how you like it!
