Re: My little Ute I looked at the house of kolor stuff, which was great, but i found the sparkle too chunky for my taste. I ended up using PPG permatex which is a lot finer... The problem with the PPG stuff is that you cant choose what colour sparkles you want you just get a mix. But if you get the background colour right, you mask allot of the colours you dont want to show up. Thanks for your comment :) it sure does feel good that i've gotten it to this point

Re: My little Ute You put down your base colour, then spray the permatex (mixed to how you like it) with the clear coat. When its sparkly as you like it, spray a final coat of clear on top. Then you wanna do a really good cut & polish to shmick it all up.

Re: My little Ute Kewl Thanks Astro Boy, I've only recently painted my coupe, but I want a flake put on it. Can I say put a coat of permatex over that, then a final clear coat??? Or won't it stick too well to the clear already on the car, or is it a case or just hitting the coat i got on now with a little sand paper (very very fine sandpaper) to get teh new coat on???? How much is the permatex????
Thanks very much
Damo

Re: My little Ute It wont hurt to sand it back, then mix the permatex with the clear coat and spray that on. Do a test patch first, like under your bonnet, to make sure you got the mix right and that it will coat properly. From memory, the permatex was $300.00 a bottle, but it should coat your whole car depending on how much flake you want to have.

Re: My little Ute Heaps of body work went into this thing before i sprayed it... Check it out, I joined the rear 3/4 panel with the tail light asembly to make it one seamless piece. And I romoved all the hooks and protrusions from around the tray to make it look more smooth. Now im trying to make a fiberglass hard top for it, with the stripes continuing down. Ooh and the fuel filler is gone, and a circle cut out instead for my race style formula one filler cap (like the ones on motor bikes) I was really excited about that. Only problem was that I had to learn how to weld alluminium to connect the piping behind the panel.

Re: My little Ute What additive to the clear coat did you use to get that effect? I'm using house of kolor white ice in my paint.
It'll be good to see yours finished. Chris
