VERY NICE INDEED! steveo 2004/2/8 12:18 Tell a friend 3089 15 0.00 (0 votes)
Brand new RX8, 13b twin rotor, whisper quiet!, i goes and handles really really well(for a rotory) mazda has spared no expense in making this a luxury car oposed to a sports car, having said that, it goes extremely well!my question is; who is going to be the first guinea pig that puts one of these motors in a 1200???? My landlord took delivery last week, its good to know that the money i give him each week for rent is going to a good cause!(better if it was a dato!!!) NOTE: i relise that this a datsun site!!! please don't bother pointing out that fact! |

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! Quote: now you know why my avatar is "converted" I used to have late model cars until I woke up and smelt the coffee!! should be till i woke up and smelt the fumes in the cabin of an old datto i think the rx8 is very nice, but are too heavy for the fairly small amount of power. who said they are loud?? ive heard one flat out on the street and i reckon my a12 is louder, take the exhaust off and add a nice port job and theyd sing a nice tune i reckon.

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! 13B rotor that goes very well, & "whisper quiet" in the same sentence? Things that make you go HMM [check the plate.

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! Steve, maybe you could swap an old 12A in the car some night (maybe your landlord won't notice) ... then tell us how the new Renesis engine goes in a Datsun.

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! Dodgeman, they have been making quiet rotaries that go very well since 1980 with the first turbo RX7's. 24 years of fast rotaries....I'll drink to that!!

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! How many 1200's would fit into a $56,000 AUD pricetag...I remain unimpressed...now you know why my avatar is "converted" I used to have late model cars until I woke up and smelt the coffee!!

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! Yeah, rallycar, apparently the fuel consumption is still high. The shape took all of about 5 seconds to grow on me!!! I just reckon they need a little bit more balls, so wait till the turbo ones come out. And apparently Joe at rotormaster has his hands on one now. I'll be there soon, so I can't wait to see that one!

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! MadTimo Yor are probably 100% right again. It's unfortunate that the rotaries that DO get noticed are the LOUD ones, & that tends to give a bad name to the rest. [like everything else in life] The quiet ones just slip on by un-noticed. Chris

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! MadTimo At about two gazillion decibels, the sound that i'm refering to is anything but sweet. Perhaps the "whisper quiet" sound is the one you are refering to.
Like the rest of us, i love a good exhaust note, but excessive noise is still excessive, no matter how good the tone is. There are a few, thankfully only a few, revheads giving rotaries a bad name 'round here & they have succeeded very well.

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! Yes, well of course there are those people who have no idea, and its because of those people there are quite a few terrible sounding rotors out there....but ohhhhhhhhh i miss the sweet sound of my 13B turbo under boost

Re: VERY NICE INDEED! You're right, the turbo does have a beneficial effect on exhaust noise / note, & the whine of a turbo "on boost" has a sound all it's own. Not as nice as the sound of a 6-71 mind you, but pleasant none the less.
