I dont like electric fans, good ones are too dear and the alternator sucks more energy to power them. The stadard fan is reasonably effective.

the only time an elec fan will come on and suck power is when you have been idling at the traffic lights, it wont come on while the car is moving if the cooling system is adequate, hence the advantage

but in your case i would stick to the mechanical till everything else is sorted, i even went as far as to use an escort fan which is similar size but has 7 more curvey blades instead of the 4 flat ones of the 1200 fan. just till i get the whole system settled and i know she aint gonna boil herself
