The colour is from one of the Audi models. She liked it, & it went with the seats,

 Re: My wife
Beautiful car.
I sold my first 1200 for $500. This dude came by at night, looked at it and that's it. 3 weeks later, I received a notice saying "my" car had been towed and impounded. For $300 i could get it back.
I never went to get it. I have no idea what the car was used for and didn't even want to see it.

I think that ALL of us Datsun 1000 owners wish that parts were still readily available. These 1200 owners have it Sooo easy. [lucky bastards]

 Re:
I sold it to a friend who had lost everything in a messy divorce. He needed a car, & it was surplus to our needs at the time. I even let it go at a reduced price. He fitted some 12" mags, a 5 speed 56A box & a GX top end complete, which i found on an engine in a local wreckers. He bought the whole, original, but well worn, 1200GX engine for $150 & the head, complete induction system, & exhaust manifold went onto the 1200 engine in this car.

Well,... i fitted it all, he just paid for it. Then he flogged the ring out of it. When he bought another car, he sold it to the housemate of his [new] womans friend. It had already accumulated a couple of dings in those new fenders, but the new owner was on drugs & the car was just trashed.

The last time i saw it, it was broken down on the side of the Hume Highway with a blocked fuel filter. I supplied & fitted the new spare filter that i carry, & adjusted the points, & set the timing on the side of the road. [I carry a few bits with me] The new boot lid had been opened with a crow bar as he had broken the key in the lock, & some drugged up fool had kicked in the new passenger door.

As it drove away, i literally cried. I have never seen it since, & i don't ever want to see it again.

I want myine to look like that when I am done. Wish new parts were easy to get now. Would make the job soooo much easier.
