At the moment it is running the following set up.

Lightened,knifed and niitroed crank.
Big port Head (ex Reg Cook) Double valve springs

Bafled Sump
lightened flywheel
paddle clutch
Quaife straight cut 4speed gearbox

Most of Cooks cars had the engine set back.
The flares are a different shape and he used to use a f'glass go kart seat.

It should go every bit as fast as it looks & i wish you every success as you have obviously done a bloody good job, but i guess that the "bored out to 76mm" bore size is a typo as this is the standard A15 bore size.

I have been trying to find out more history and pics about the car, i have been told by several people that it is likely to be one of the orginal Schick cars Raced by Tony Marsh, but to date have been unable to confirm this. When i bought it, the car was missing a lot of bits and had been mucked with. would love to find some pics or any more info so that i can put it back to its former glory.

Paul.

I could well be wrong but I thought it was Reg Cooks car that was Schick sponsered and Tony's was Statesman Shirts/Sulco Tools. All the photos I have of Tony's car show it as black. Reg' s car is here in the Wellington region as was Tony's car last I heard Tony Oliver had it but that has probably changed. Does the car have a set back engine? How long has the car been in Chch, could it be Trevor Crowes car? He ran one in Shellsport and OSCA?

Tim,

The "Arrow Wheels car" is currently in Levin & has a CA16 in it, so its not that car.

I suspect Stirlingmac is right.

The Arrow wheels car was owned for a short time by Jamie Kibble then onsold. Last time I saw it it was still yellow. It was running at MG Whittakers with the CA as a classic ?? I was suffering from brain fade about Tony's car , of course it's back in Auckland in good hands. I can't wait to see that run agin.

I have owned it for the past 7 years, I have just recently moved to Ch in the last 8 months from Kapiti where i was racing it at Manfield in the winter series as well as SS2000. I bought it off a guy in Wellington but previous to that it was held by Ian Davenport. When i got it it hadn't turned a wheel in anger for 10 years. The engine hasn't been set back either.

Hi Wayne,

Yes i have ventured south due to work, But i will still be coming to manfield as love the track and the people. Yes Chris and i have growen up and competed againest and with each other for many years as well as with Clive and have spent many long nites in each others garage. (they are at manfield today in the wet) If you are able to find some old pics Wayne would love to see them as i would love to restore it to its orginal glory.

i was thinking of making up some quarter bumpers like that, maybe rounded off though, they look straight cut

What pistons and rods are you running?? I didn't think Carillo made a set of rods for the datsun a-series. Are the forged pistons ?

I'd be keen to see your baffled sump too!! Is it like the cosworth design with a scrapper plate etc ??

Whats this Quaife gearbox as well??? I've never heard of it. If its straight cut, I have to assume its close ratio as well !!

Daniel.

Carillo will make rods to your requirements but they aren't cheap.I suspect the quaife box is Ford based, Timbo used the same one behind his CA16 in his old coupe. And no this isn't the dropped floor car that is in Auckland with an injected LZ.
