Re: Why try, umm i mean Tri Y
I have started to dismantle my much loved, but long neglected 1200GX engine today. When i removed the heat shield i was pleasantly surprised to find that the Tri-Y extractors that i had custom made in the mid 80's have survived.

I had ecpected to find them all rotted away. I will remove them, then abrasive blast them to get a true picture of condition. If they are good, i will paint them & offer them up for trade or sale. They were made from real thick flanges & the thickest tube that could be bought & bent in their machines.
The two pipes don't join untill right down beside the gearbox.

They obviously fit behind a GX manifold so should have many applications. I will be using a GX exhaust manifold in the rebuild of this engine.

I have used this engine, with these pipes, in my 1200 ute, so they can be used in 1200's as well as 1200 equiped 1000's which is what it's in now.

No. It looks to be a single webber manifold for an L series[?] engine. The 1200GX ran two improved SU's [Hitachi]

If you are interested in the GX setup, it's best to try to find a complete setup with manifold, carbs, linkage & aircleaner. With an incomplete package, you may be searching for the missing bits for a while.

1200's had round top carbs while the later 120Y types had square top carbs with a fair bit more smog plumbing. Either one is still a good system for an improved performance street engine.
